right now you have to have a cell phone with text messaging so they can send you a code. just go to gmail.com

Hey! Gmail is too gud to be true.. at least I m very much satisfied with the service.. n u can join gmail either by that txt message thing typed earlier .. or can join if a user of gmail invites u.. an invittaion can be sent from my side for 10 points.. ;)

Reply:it's ok - basically like any other free email account, since everyone offers about the same free storage and all that.
you can signup by going to gmail.com and fill out the form to text message a code to your cell number which will let you sign up. alternatively, you can have a friend send you an invitation email to join.
Reply:Its a good email client. Its user friendly and is supported via Google Talk. Its easy to configure with all email programs(Outlook, Thunderbird, Edura).

For registration you can ask someone who has already registered with gmail, that fellow has option to invite his/her friends. This will work.

Gmail question. It's driving me crazy!!?
I have a gmail account. How do you do a forward to people? Once you click on the forward you have to addresses how do you bring up your address book to add the addresses? I can't seem to do this and sometimes I have to add loads of people and the only way I can do it is go through the alphabet so i don't miss anyone.
Please HELP!

When you have loads of email addresses, it's usually better to add them to a group, and then you can forward your email to the group, and it will be forwarded to everyone in the group. Here's how:
To create a group for list mailing from existing contacts in Gmail:
* Select Contacts from the left side navigation bar in Gmail.
* Check all the contacts you want to add to the new list.
* Click the Add to group ... drop-down menu.
* Select New group ... from the menu.
(Or, to add the selected contacts to an existing group, select it instead.)
* Type the name by which you want the new address book group to go.
* Click OK.
Then when you have your email that you want to forward, click "Add Bcc" and type the name of the desired group in the Bcc: field.

Where in the world is Gmail server located?
Google has many different server clusters, the nearest one to me is in scenic The Dalles, Oregon. I imagine Gmail's servers are distributed throughout the world with some redundancy in case of failure.

Gmail. 2GB of space and counting! sort, search, and organize by conversation, your emails. also, GMAIL uses POP3, so you can export to Outlook, or other email programs, and you cannot do that with the free yahoo account!

Is there anyway to cluster emails by convo in thunderbird.. similar to gmail?
click on the first icon on your message plane. (the same line where the 'sender' and 'subject' is.)
the icon is to display message treads. it will cluster the emails in the same thread like in message boards.
if you can't find that button, click on the rightest icon which looks like a window. choose 'thread' in the drop down menu.

Hi; There are two ways to get your gmail contacts in to Yahoo! mail contacts. One is to let Yahoo do it for you, but it can take up to 24 hours. The 2nd way is to do it yourself by exporting the contacts from gmail and importing them in to your Yahoo! account. I'll list both ways and let you decide. To havce Yahoo do it for you. Log in to Yahoo Mail! and In the upper right hand choose "Options" then select "Import Contacts". A new window appears with directions of what to do.
To it yourself, You export your gmail contacts list into a .CSV file (comma delimited), then you import that file to your Yahoo! Mail contacts like this:
1. Log in to your Gmail account and on the left side click Contacts
2. Click Export in the lower-left corner of your Contacts list.
3. Choose to export all contacts (gmail groups don't transfer correctly so don't count on groups being in Yahoo mail... this has been a known problem that is still being worked on by gmail)
