What is gmail and why certain emails that I send appear to be monitored. I was referred to as mimi in one response from a failure notice.

I'm sorry, I don't completely understand what's happening. As I understand, you tried to send a message to a Gmail address and received a MailerDaemon notice. Is this correct? Please also add where in the message you were referred to as mimi. If it was just somewhere in the text, it may have been a code for something else.

yeah, you will see a small tool bar above the message box when sending a message. You'll see a font option, spell check and a smiley face among others. Click on the smiley which gives you all those animated options just click on your choice to be inserted at the point of your cursor. If you use POP3, gmail gives you the option of deleting incoming mail from their servers at the time you POP the messages to your computer. But I wouldn't trust them not to keep a copy. Plus all your outgoing messages stay on their servers until you delete them.
All that said, I still use gmail. I just make sure to delete everything often.

you cant change the excisting id of any mail provider.here yours is gmail.No one can change the id for the same account(you can change profile details passwords etc).so if u r so concerned you can create a new account

Gmail client on my Nokia 6133?
I've download the gmail client software but when I attempt to log in it says that the application does not have permissions. I would back out of the program, highlight the program, click options and the option to give access to the application is grayed out. I would also like to get Google Maps for mobile working and assume the same fix will work for that. I've seen, online, a few fixes although they made the browser not work or it was a sticky mess. Thank you in advance to anyone that has made this work.

When I try and send a joke forward to someone, gmail only sends part of the message, the part missing is always the joke part with the pictures. Whenever i send an email from my blackberry it sends the email to my blackberry as well. How do i stop this from happening. I saw some ppl said to go to the blackberry internet service site and filter it. Where do i find this site and how do i filter my email so I dont send emails to myself.

Well, when you send an email from your BB, Gmail thinks its a new email (it is new to the Gmail server..) so then it sends you a copy on your Blackberry since it doesn't know the difference between a new email and a new email to Gmail.

It is possible someone could have stolen your password and if that has happened it is possible some chanced your security question. I would contact the people at google and tell them your account may have been comprised they are the only ones that can help you get it back.

Last week google stopped working for me. Whenever I tried to search google from the googlebar, or from the search bar in Firefox, it just returned a blank page. Even when I typed in "www.google.com" in the URL bar, it failed.

FINALLY, I came across some info today about the hosts file in Windows. . .there was a problem here, probably from some malware I removed from my system.
Check your hosts file in:
C\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc
Open with Notepad
Below all the introductory text, it should have one line in it that says:
127.0.0.1 localhost
Any other lines will mean that that domain is being blocked, for example, in mine it read:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 google.com
127.0.0.1 www.google.com
127.0.0.1 other website example
127.0.0.1 other website example
DELETE all the extra lines, leaving ONLY the first one:
127.0.0.1 localhost
Apparently you MUST leave at least that first line.
This worked 100% for me, I hope it also works for you.

If you decide that you don't need your Gmail address anymore, and you're sure you won't want your username in the future, you can simply remove Gmail from your Google Account. Here's how:
Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
Open the Accounts tab.

Gmail client on my Nokia 6133?
I've download the gmail client software but when I attempt to log in it says that the application does not have permissions. I would back out of the program, highlight the program, click options and the option to give access to the application is grayed out. I would also like to get Google Maps for mobile working and assume the same fix will work for that. I've seen, online, a few fixes although they made the browser not work or it was a sticky mess. Thank you in advance to anyone that has made this work.

When I try and send a joke forward to someone, gmail only sends part of the message, the part missing is always the joke part with the pictures. cut and paste it....to do this..place yopu cursor at the beginning of the page you want to copy....point and press your mouse and drag it down. While doing this you will notice that it is being highlighted. when you reach the bottom press ATRL then click letter C. You now have copied it.
To paste it onto your "compose" page or folder, press CTRL again but this time click letter V. tp paste it.
Should have now the the entire page you highlighted on the page you are composing on

other thing i want to mention is that sometiems ur fire wall prevents you opening gmail.so check the firewall and see whther that makes any difference.
Especially this happens if ur using instituitional computers for internet as these firewalls are very strong and they may think Gmail is a porno site

Also, a gmail account seems a little bit more childish/techie when you give it out. Yahoo is just a more mature website.

Just because he knows your login ID doesn't mean he can get your password. If he tried the "forgot password" they would ask a security question. If he/she knows the answer to the question.....then you would be compromised. But think about this, anyone who knows your email address knows your login so according to some of the other answers, wouldn't your password always be compromised. I think not.

Then sleep easier you wont have your email read.

I use my gmail acount on MSN Messenger. Recently, I got a notice saying it was time to update my MSN Live (I already have Live, but there was an update) so I decided to dwload it. However, when I tried to sign onto MSN Live again after te upgrade, it said that I had an incorrect MESSENGER ID. I used another MSN (hotmail) acount and I signed in. For some reason, after an upgrade, gmail ID's dont work? Pls Help, I have all my buddies and emoticons on my gmail msn and I really dont want to change my ID just because of a dumb upgrade.

I have followed all of the instructions that it told me to in the pop.yahoo.com and stmp.yahoo.com and the same for gmail but the network password box keeps popping up and wont work... please help!

Um. Gmail is great. I've only heard good things about it.
Reply:Gmail is not bad at all. It has a lot of very good functions and a good customizable spam filter. I am even able to receive mail from all my other email adresses and send mail as other mail adresses from only one account. It even allows you to download emails using pop from other emails (hotmail, yahoo etc..) and the best of all I have over 6GB of storage

Afetr that, you will see a line that says Received: and then at the end of that line, there will be a set of numbers. Google has made it possible to use the Igoogle widgets outside of Igoogle pages.
To get the HTML for any given Igoogle page see the link below.
